What is a short haul move?
This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

Will my moving company get rid of any extra trash?
Yes, but they will charge you for any items they need to take to a waste disposal location, including the time required to drive to and from the area and the management fee required.

Can I still move in poor weather?
Yes, professional movers are prepared to move in almost any condition including sleet, snow or rain. Just make sure you clear the driveway beforehand if you are moving in snowy conditions.

What should I do with the food in my fridge?
You must empty your refrigerator before moving it, so we recommend transporting your food and other perishables in a cooler during your move.

What is partial packing?
This generally includes the packing and wrapping or pictures, mirrors, glass items, lamps, china cabinets, televisions and furniture.

How can I obtain a moving estimate?
You can phone or email your moving company or check to see if they offer a convenient online moving quote system.

What is an inventory?
This is a detailed descriptive list of your household goods that is prepared on the day of your actual move. All items are numbered and accompanied by a brief description of their condition on the inventory sheet.

What is a transportation surcharge?
This is an extra fee charged when the pickup or destination locations are very remote which results in less return weight for the moving company.

If I have a limited budget, can I hire movers to pack and move some of my items?
Yes, you should hire professional movers and packers to transport large, awkward items such as desks, pianos and sofas and breakable items such as china and glasses. Make sure to hire movers for heavy items that must be hoisted into or out of your home because you risk serious injury if you try to move them yourself.

What should I do if one of my items is damaged during the move?
Professional movers and packers do their best to ensure all your belongings arrive safely to your destination. However, damage sometimes occurs. In this case, please email or call your moving company as soon as possible with the details.
